Robots in Japan Do Push-ups

When we arrived in Fukuoka one of the places on my list is the Robosquare which is near the Fukuoka Tower. It’s a somewhat robot museum that houses 250 robots with 100 different types. Ever since I was a kid I  have always loved robots! I remember having a dismantled robot that was handed down by a cousin. We couldn’t afford having one so I was next in line if ever a robot gets broken. When I went to Robosquare, I was reminded of that childhood feeling; playing with robots and actually wanting to try building or dismantling one through their summer classes but we had no time so I was just up for a viewing spree.

Many robots in Robosquare are the types that you can interact with like the famous AIBO (Artificial Intelligence Robot). You also have PARO, a robotic seal that played a big role in relieving mental anguish of people who were affected by the great East Japan Earthquake. You can also talk to Pepper, a humanoid robot you can play guessing game with through the monitor on its chest. Pepper can actually dance with you and when you do, it looks right into your eyes. 🙂

AIBO in different generations.

We weren’t able to see these dolls perform but I saw the video and it was amazing! The movements of the Geisha doll was unbelievable.

There are still other robots that you can play with but the best part is the robot show which is scheduled on the following:

Weekdays

  • 11:00 AM
  • 2:00 PM
  • 4:00 PM

Weekends

  • 11:00 AM
  • 1:00 PM
  • 3:00 PM
  • 4:30 PM

Speaking of performance, these really cool pirate robots entertained us while we where there. We were lucky to catch the 4:30 schedule that day. Watch the video below and prepare for their push-up performance. Haha Seriously!

Have you been to Robosquare? Tell us more about your experience in the comment section below. 🙂
